Five things to know about the Eagles’ first-round draft pick

1. He's a local

Jihaad Campbell grew up in Camden County. He starred for three years at Timber Creek before playing his final year at IMG Academy, but returned to Timber Creek for his commitment day.
2. He starred at Alabama

After Campbell was selected, former coach Nick Saban praised his versatility.
"He had some injury questions, but if you’re the Eagles, what do you care? You’re getting a guy who’s going to be there for the next 10 years for you."
3. He's versatile

At Alabama, Saban moved Campbell around on defense, putting him behind the line and using him as an edge rusher.
“He has tremendous range, speed, he can play in or out," Saban said. "He never played behind the line before we moved him."
4. He grew up an Eagles fan

Campbell grew up an Eagles fan in South Jersey — although he might be a bit out of practice after years down south. Good effort trying to start an E-A-G-L-E-S chant up there.
5. He's recovering from a shoulder injury

One of the reasons Campbell dropped in the draft is due to a torn labrum suffered last season. He did participate in drills at the scouting combine and is expected to be ready for training camp.
